I wanted to record some sound coming from my computer but the problem is that I don't have the "stereo mix" option in my volume. I use Dimension E310 and uses SigmaTel Audio and system is Window XP. If you can help me please leave a message.

A quick Google search shows a lot of people with your hardware setup reporting the same problem. You may be able to find a solution by finding alternate drivers (beyond me, since I have a different setup).

In the meantime, have you tried using a stereo "patch" cable to connect the Audio Out (or Line Out) port to the Audio In (Line In) port? It's not optimal, and it often requires tweaking, but it usually works.

may I ask what is this Stereo "patch" cable, is it like some external setup or like a program?

Is there another way without buying things?

If your driver doesn't have an option for "stereo mix" then the patch cable is the only way I know to record the output from the same computer.
