I tried to install the newest version of AVG anti-virus free security but it couldn"t do it - suggested I uninstall it manually and then reinstall. So I went to Control Panel and tried to uninstall it - didn't work. Says action failed - access is denied. What can I try next?

If for some reason AVG uninstall failed using the normal method of Add/Remove, then you should use the AVG Remover:

AVG Remover utility removes all parts of AVG installation on your computer, including registry items, installation and user files on your disk, etc. AVG Remover is the least option to be used in case the AVG uninstallation / repair installation process has failed repeatedly.

Hello,

AVG 2011 can only be removed with the following removal tool:

http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/support/av...1remover_en.exe

The one mentioned removes files and registry keys from AVG 8.5 and 9.0

Thanks for pointing that out.

The AVG Download Tools page I provided includes links for the correct remover. I updated the direct download links which I did not realize had been changed.
