I got this...yesterday? and someone tried to use my credit card today to buy IT equipment from a shop in Michigan. Obviously ET is phoning home and is not my buddy. I am using my wife's PC and have changed several passwords already to try to limit the damage.

Probably acquired from an infected ad or website that caused a whole bunch of windows to pop up. I killed the computer, and had to fix a sptd.sys problem before I could even get Windows to come back on.

It keeps Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D from running, Ad-Aware from updating (AAW can't find it), and prevents Trend Micro housecall from working properly. It tries to prevent me from opening websites associated with these companies, and has redirected me to bogus antispyware websites at least twice. If my computer is connected to the internet upon first being turned on, it also lags for a long time (probably phoning home).

Windows XP with ZoneAlarm and Spybot Resident app, and SP3 but not the past couple of months of updates (Windows auto-update is too annoying for me to use it).

Following are the DDS & HJT logs, plus attached DDS & GMER outputs.

::::Here is the DDS Log:::::

Hello Crazy_J,

but not the past couple of months of updates (Windows auto-update is too annoying for me to use it).

Thats the reason you are so badly infected.
MS has released many fixes in the past couple of months. Without the fixes you will get infected in minutes.

October 2010's Patch Tuesday breaks Microsoft's old record of 34 vulnerabilities fixed by 14 updates, which was set only two months ago. Users of Microsoft's Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office (including the Mac OS and Web Apps versions) are strongly encouraged to ensure that these latest updates are successfully downloaded and applied as soon as possible.

Four of the updates are rated Critical, the highest rating in Microsoft's Severity Rating System.

You need to turn the Automatic Update ON and leave it on!

************

I understand that you need help in order to get rid of the malware that is present on your system - But you need to help us first.

I notice that you never scanned with an Antivirus previously before starting this thread - because you don't even have an Antivirus installed !
This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world. :)
That's why I want you to install one!!

Please install Avira Antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/
This is a free Antivirus :!:

Perform a full scan with Avira and let it quarantine everything it is finding.
Then reboot.
After reboot, open your Avira and select "reports".
There doubleclick the report from the Full scan you have done. Click the "Report File" button and copy and paste this report in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Then we'll start from there, because it really makes no sense otherwise that we clean this up manually if an Antivirus scan is not present which should be able to deal with most and prevent further reinfection.
