My windows keep becoming inactive, which also interferes with any and all typing as if a ghost mouse was clicking offscreen. The same keeps happening with selected icons while going through files on the computer. Unplugging and replugging in my keyboard seems to hide problem for a while.

You need to free up some space on your drive, and get it back up to a reasonable amount of free space.

Temp File cleaner will remove any temp files from your computer freeing up space.
