was trying to trim some fat off of the C:\windows\installer folder. by running "msizap g" at the command line. the output is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Installer Clean Up>msizap.exe G!
MsiZapInfo: Performing operations for user
S-1-5-21-1968912223-3946154492-405177
5009-1000
Removing orphaned cached files.
No product/patch data was found.

does this mean there are no orphan files. or that i am not doing something right ? OS is XP and I have administrator privileges.

I have googled the issue, others have had the same thing happen, but there was no resolution. Anyone ?

Thanks

no side effects. and windows\installer folder still the same size (1Gb)

found : when looking for pending installs that were interrupted and are now "stuck" fouling up the windows installer, if msizap returns the message
"No product/patch data was found" it is taken to mean there are no pending installs.

therefore, I must assume there are no orphan files on my system to delete.

I went through this exercise because my windows directory was 3.2Gb, which is reasonable, but this one folder contained 1Gb.

(**C:\Windows\installer contains the setup and uninstall info for programs that use the Windows Installer **)
