This is a question re the windows installer. Is there like a dll or master msi that other installers interact with?My problem is trying to install Painter9 & after the windows installer configures,I am told to remove another version of Painter. There is NO other version installed on the system, the registry or anywhere I can find.
Any ideas??
TIA.

Did there used to be another copy of Painter on the system? If so, it's probably a registry entry or file that wasn't deleted when it was uninstalled. Some firms use this as a way to prevent unauthorized use of their software.

There was a copy of the demo version of Painter 9 installed prior to this.Have used regedit & registry mechanic to remove all found traces of Corel & Painter.Have also scanned the entire drive but no mention of either comes up.That's why I was thinking, along the lines of an msi or similar. Can only really see formatting as an option at the present.Any thoughts???BTW thanks for replying.

There are workarounds for the problems with the Windows Installer, but usually the best source for this is the author of the program involved.

First, I'd check the Corel site for this problem and any solutions offered.

Then, here's some Windows Installer fixit type links:
