Hello,

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

There is a lot more going on than only surfsidekick though..
The best and easiest way to get rid of SurfsideKick is to uninstall it via software > add/remove programs.
It will ask you to enter a code. You'll see the code you have to enter. Click Ok then.
Please REBOOT after uninstalling SurfsideKick. I can't stress enough how important this is!!

I also see Viewpoint installed. Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
Also uninstall RelevantKnowledge

Please don't forget to reboot after uninstalling programs!

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Download and install CCleaner
Do not use it yet.

* Please download ewido:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Let it update, but don't let it scan yet!!

We also need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

Hello,

We're not finished yet though..

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7A1693A1-AFAF-4F1E-9B05-EEC38A85FBF3} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mhcpemh.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ppricw.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [0fg49i.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\0fg49i.exe /k

O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [0fg49i.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\0fg49i.exe /k

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Reboot.

Download FindQoologic.zip save it to your Desktop.
http://downloads.subratam.org/Find-Qoologic.zip

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.html

Open the FindQoologic folder. Preferable to your desktop.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.
Post this in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

Hello,

Please read the following instructions very carefully:

* Download Killbox.
Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold part:

C:\WINDOWS\NNLOQV.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\IIPONES.DLL
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\OOGH.EXE

Open 'file' in the killboxmenu on top and choose Paste from clipboard

Now you will see, this is pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete"-field.
There's a little arrow (dropdown-arrow) next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines must be there together if the files are present!

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click NO
You'll see that the file will disappear from the 'Ful Path of File to Delete'-field..
Click again on the red circle with the white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click NO again.
And again, you'll see that this file will disappear from the 'Ful Path of File to Delete'-field.
Perform this untill all the files are gone in that field and the field is empty.
When the last file is gone, and killbox asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES

Your computer must reboot now.

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

"winsync"=-

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
This is how the regfix must look afterwards: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

Reboot once again and post a new hijackthislog together with a new findqoologiclog.

Hello,

I'm afraid you didn't perform my instructions in exactly the same way as I asked you to.
Most probably, when killbox asked you to reboot when pressing the red button the first time, you answered 'yes'

Anyway, let's try this in a different way with killbox..
Open killbox.exe
Choose delete on reboot
Copy and paste next line in the field:

C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\OOGH.EXE

When killbox asks you to reboot, click NO

Then copy and paste next line in the field:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\IIPONES.DLL

Now, when killbox asks you to reboot, click YES

Your system must reboot now.

After reboot, doubleclick fix.reg again and when it asks you if you want to merge it, click yes/ok

Then post a new hijackthislog together with a new log from findqoologic.

Hello,

You really need to read my killbox instructions very carefully. Every step i ask you is really important. The slighest mistake can cause the fix to fail. Every step, every word is important.
Also, it is important you tell me if you get any error. If you don't tell, I won't know.

Can you open next folder please?
C:\!KillBox\Logs
you'll find a log in there (kb.log)
Post the contents in your next reply.
