Hello I seem to be in a right old fix, I have Kaspersky internet security 2010 installed, and a few days ago it started displaying notifications that it had found a trojan,(Trojan-dropper.script.generic) and then it quarantined it, then another notification another trojan (Trojan.win32.generic) and then it quarantined it. This seemed to happen almost continuously finding and quarentining trojans.
I ran a complete scan of entire computer ( this took 8 hours) it said it had found a problem and needed to disinfect and would shut down and restart. This it did, said it was clear and then showed notices it had found a virus.win32.numnul.a and then trojan-dropper.script.generic and then trojan.win32.generic.

Kaspersky also states your computer security is at risk fix it now, clicking this does nothing.

Also I normally use Mozilla Firefox as my browser, it has now stopped working and displays "Mozilla Crash Reporter" stating firefox had a problem and crashed. Clicking restart firefox it just shows the same mozilla crash reporter, clicking quit firefox, closes the window.

My license for Kaspersky expires in 8 days and I have bought Bitdefender Internet Security 2011 in its place but have not yet installed it.

Could you please give me some advice as to what to do.

Thanks in anticipation

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

Hello
I have since last post uninstalled Kaspersky internet security, as expired and have installed Bitdefender internet security 2011. Yesterday bitdefender found win32 ramnit. Today I ran a scan and it came up all clear. However firefox still does not work. As to whether i am clear of virus's I don't know. I have attached the logs from DDs and Gmer maybe you can advise if I'm clear.
Many Thanks

Hi-

Sorry for the delay. Thank you for the updated scans. I don't see any obvious infections or any reason why you are gaving problems with FireFox. We need to look deeper.

First, open FireFox, and, when you get the Crash Reporter, click on the Details... button. Please copy the contents of that window into your reply.

Second, I see from the logs that have have downloaded and run ComboFix. Please copy into your reply the log from that run. It is located in C:\log.txt.

Third, your logs show that you are using peer-to-peer (P2P) or file-sharing programs like uTorrent.

These programs allow to share files between users as the name(s) suggest. In today's world, the cyber crime has grown to an enormous business and any means is used to infect personal computers and to make use of their stored data or machine power for further propagation of the malware files. A popular means is the use of file-sharing tools as a tremendous amount of prospective victims can be reached through it.

It is therefore possible to be infected by downloading manipulated files via peer-to-peer tools and thus suggested to be used with intense care. Some further readings on this subject - Risks of File-Sharing Technology

It is pretty much certain that if you continue to use P2P programs, you will get infected again.

I would recommend that you uninstall uTorrent, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove this program, you can do so via Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
In your reply, please copy in the Crash Reporter data and the ComboFix log.

Thanks,
