Hi there, my names Jim.

As the title says, My C drive is almost full and I can't find any files to get rid of to clear space.

This is an Acer 5315 laptop running Vista HOME BASIC and the drive is split into two 31.5 Gb partitions.

I've tried showing hidden files but that really didn't show much more than I can find already.

I've also been googling for ages but haven't had much success.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Temp File Cleaner try running that and see if it makes some difference.

But in all honesty I would get rid of the two partitions.

Thanks for the cleaner link. It cleared 841Mb total. The C drive icon is no longer red so thats good

Thing is, there's still something taking up space.

As for doing away with the partition: I'm entirely green, I don't have a clue how to. Would I not lose Information doing this?

The laptop came with no software discs at all (and was bought new). If I mess up in a big way, the only OS I have available on disc is ubuntu 8.04.

Thanks for the help!

Why do you have 2 partitions?

This is how the laptop was delivered to me and as I had no software disc I've just stuck with it.

Is this a bad thing?

EDIT:- Speccy shows I have 3 partitions (Counting partition 0) . Vista is installed on partition 1 and not partition 0.
Is it supposed to be this way? If so thats another 11.7 Gb Im missing

Partition 0 might be the system restore function for your computer.

Thanks for the link, DiskCleanUp liberated another 246Mb.

I found THIS SERVICE PACK CLEANER after a bit more reading on your link.

Any thoughts? Anyone used this before?

Thanks

Jim

I wouldn't use such tools just incase something happens. I believe windows updates check what service pack and hot fixes and updates are on a system via the backup files.
