I'll get straight to the question: Can I get rid of 'Killing Hazard' by taking out the hard drive and cleaning it from another computer? The router is not infected (we have a non-default password).

This would be much easier for me because it doesn't involve trying to download AV programs from an infected computer that tries to stop you downloading them. Or faffing around with boot logs, safe mode etc.

I am (obviously) not an expert on things like master boot records or anywhere the virus might be residing that isn't in the main 'storage area' of the hard drive, so please fill me in.

Yes that is possible. Update and scan with your AV and MalwareBytes. Let me know if you need tools.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
