Hey all, I have a problem with a computer I'm working on for a friend. I have reformatted various computers in the past, but this one is giving me a major headache. I wiped the hard drive clean using active@killdisk just like I have with previous computers, but none have run into this problem:

After wiping the hard drive clean to install a fresh version of windows, the bios startup screen is not coming up at all. When I turn on the computer it is just a black screen with no signs of a computer doing anything (no fan noise, no bios screen, no clicking). In the past when I've wiped hard drives, the bios stays untouched but now it is doing nothing. I have a xp cd that I planned on using but since I can't get to the boot screen to boot to the cd drive, I'm screwed. Does anyone have any experience with this? This is the first time I've run into such a problem.

Is it a Dell? I've noticed this issue usually shows up on alot of their laptops. Remove the battery, disconnect the power, push the button, plug it all back in, and it works.
