I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8 Sunday I got a virus on Facebook. It some how got into my account and sent out an Inbox to all my friends that contained a random subject and a link in the message box. After this I deactivated my account. Yesterday, I tried to reactivate my account on Facebook and they wrote me a message saying that: "For security reasons your account is temporarily unavailable.
This is because some files on your computer may contain a virus. You may have accidentally downloaded an infected file or a friend may have passed one to you through a malicious link. You should run anti-virus software to remove these harmful programs and keep your information secure." The you are supposed to check that you agree that your computer has virus protection on it. I have a virus protection program on my Mac that my school provides. It is the McAfee Virus Scan. My computer has been running fine and I have not noticed any changes since the Facebook virus occurred.

My question is: Did the McAfee Virus Protection protect my computer from being infected? I took it to the IT Center here at school and they started to run a scan but I didn't finish it because I had to go to class. It ran for an hour and a half and didn't detect anything. Do you think I need to do anything else to check and see if I might have a virus on my computer before entering Facebook again or do anything else?

It is very unlikely that you got a virus on your mac, you might have some how logged on to a fake facebook page that hacked your account.
If I have replied to a topic and you reply and I haven't gotten back to you within 48 hours (2 days) then send me a P.M.
