Some Basics: Dell Precision 360, WinXP Pro 32bit SP3, OL2007 SP2. We are running Exchange 2007.

i have a user who is getting an error message when trying to access the root of Public Folders.

Cannot expand the folder. The attempt to log in to Microsoft exchange has failed.

Here are some things I have tried thus far:
~Had her login to webmail and she can access these folders this way
~I logged in to a brand new laptop with a fresh image and all of MS's updates, setup her email and received the EXACT same error (this one threw me off)
~I logged in to the same laptop as myself, setup my email and tried to access Public Folders and was successful
~Lastly, I logged her on to my own PC (Dell Precision T3400) which i run Win7 Pro 64bit with Outlook 2007 SP2

Can anyone offer any assistance on how to resolve this issue or what else to check?

Thanks,
Jason

note:
i have read and discovered there is a known issue with KB980376, however, that security update is not installed on the users machine.

the following patches were pushed recently via our SCCM server but none of them seem to pertain to Outlook.

finally figured it out. the end issue ended up being a permissions issue. that's why the user could access the folders via OWA. had to remove the permissions and reapply them then had the user log off and log back in. then the user could access Public Folders again. Spent a couple of hours on the phone with Microsoft and they have no documented cases until now.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason

could you please provide steps to apply permissions. I tried using pfdavadmin, but got error, because 443-ssl is blocked from exchange..
are you talking about permissions in mailbox. because the permissions option in public folder root is dimmed
