Just thought I'd post one addition to the man tutorial page:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/using-man-to-get-help-in-linux-and-unix/

One man page I have found very helpfull on *nix systems I am unfamiliar with is man intro(If there is no page for "intro", try "Intro")

It varies depending on the system in what it gives. Some systems don't have a man intro page, others have a very short page, and some offer a full list of all the commands available on that system.
