I've used all the tools in Norton Security Suite (Rootkit chk, Registry Cleaner, etc), Trend Micro's Housecall, msconfig to minimize startups, deleted all cookies, etc., but operations are still very slow. Like alot of us, my budget is tight. This doesn't mean I won't spend money, I just need experienced insight from those with more experience to find the "MOST Effective" software solution that works BEST to "Optimize System Performance." There seem to be an endless list of software solutions that all offer a FREE SCAN, but one must buy their product to find out if it works very well, and I've been burned with a couple previously that just didn't deliver much for the money I spent on their product!

Thanks very much for any asssistance you can give me.
