Can anybody tell me if a dualcore cpu must use ddr2 ram to run ?
I noticed that a motherboard using intel 865G chipset with ich5, running ddr1 ram can support core2dual cpus. Is it possible?

It depends on your motherboard, the slots are different for ram on different mainboards.

Memory being DDR or DDR2 is not related to the operation of a dual core CPU.

The 865 chipset does support multiprocessing, so can operate a dual core CPU in a suitable motherboard. I think 865G would have been intended for the Pentium D, not the Core2, but 865PE was used for Core2:
