The details of the Norton message are:
Risk name - HTTPS Tidserv Request 2
Application path \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SCVHOST.EXE (although sometimes it's \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\PROGRAM FLIES\MOZILLA FIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXE)
The alerts initially started after I had just got rid of another problem. There was a popup which could not be closed, which claimed to be a Microsoft Security Essentials Alert. I managed to find a guide on how to locate and delete this, which worked. After that I ran updated versions of Malwarebytes and Spybot which picked up and deleted a few things (I didn't restart my computer for a while though).
Now what happens is that I receive a rundll error on startup and then everything seems to work alright (apart from the first time when IE explorer froze and i had to restart) except for the Norton alerts (which seem more frequent when I search for something on google).
I also have combofix downloaded but decided to ask for help before running it.
