Hello

First of all let me thank you for the wonderful job you guys do and the great help you hand out.
You have previously helped me solve a pretty serious infection, and Im hoping I can be helped again.

It all started when the computer wouldnt boot, crashing with a blue STOP screen.
I found out (googling) that said stop screen happened when logon files were damaged, so I managed to make it bootable again using healthy files and UBCD. This only worked once, as rebooting would bring me to the same STOP screen.

Having come to these forums before, I used a combination of combofix, Malwarebytes AM, DDS and Hijackthis to remove suspicious files or proceses.
Somewhere along this steps, explorer.exe stopped executing automatically, so I would have to run it using the task manager. A minor annoyance, but would be great if this got fixed as well.

The real problem is that both Iexplore and Firefox get redirected to pages warning about viruses, then a javascript pops up and begins the infection all over again. (I stop it bu it still tries).

This makes both browsers unusable and makes me feel uneasy knowing im still infected.

Im hoping you can help me with this, I paste DDS and Gmer logs.

Thank you for your time, I hope you can help me.

DDS:

Hello!

Dont worry about the delay, Im sure you guys are very busy.
I still have the problem, though its intermittent.
I will update as soon as I get home and run the tools.

There is one suspicious file by the way, its called ctfmon.exe and runs on every windows start, its one of the registry entries I have not been able to remove (or comes back)

I have deleted, renamed it, or replaced with a bogus write only file, but it regenerates after 5 to 10 seconds.

Thank you for the answer, will update tonight.

I hope these are useful to solve the problem.
Also, explorer.exe still has to be run manually, fixing that as well would be great.

Thanks

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links.
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

Gringo

I Close My Topics If You Have Not Replied In 5 Days If You Will Be Longer Please Let Me Know

Hello.

Ran Combofix, and let it restart, but looks like the redirects got worse but the explorer.exe problem got fixed.
Before it would redirect to a single site with the java thing.
Now it will redirect to other random sites, including adult sites.

It took me some effort to browse here, I had to copy the links and paste them into the address bar, firefox would sometimes give me an error about the site having incorrect encoding.

I paste the combofix log, Im sorry for the delay.

(E: is my system drive)
