What version of Windows do you have? (SP level)
There's discussion of a problem with XP dektop here.
Checking other boards for fixes shows Kelly's Korner
has a number of registry edits which may fix it.
Lines 128 rh, 256 rh, 142 rh (rh = the fix is in the right hand column)
See the site for how to apply these changes and note you must back up your registry before making any changes
otherwise you may not be able to recover from an error.
There are also comments that this may be a symptom of a malware infection. What protection do you have?
Soltek QBIC, Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 512MB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB, Netgear 54Mb/s WAP, ridiculously expensive Satellite Broadband
Windows XP Home SP2, Trend Micro Internet Security, Firefox, Thunderbird, AdAwareSE, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, A-squared Free, Ewido Security Suite.
