I had a Security Tool Virus, so i ran malwarebytes to get rid of it. Ran the full scan, it looked like it was working fine, but when it was done it didn't take me to the log screen, it just closed. So i opened malwarebytes back up, and looked in the log, where it didn't even show that i ran it. Was about to run it again, but it said that it needed to restart my computer, so i thought it just glitched out the log and opted to restart. Now it wont start, i've tried in normal mode, where it shows the windows page with the progress bar at the bottem, then the screen goes black. I tried safe mode, but it just lists some stuff, then stops, and goes black. I can hear the tower humming even though the screen is black. Please help if you can. I have tried to run it in all modes, however i'm not familiar with doing any of those.

Do you have access to the repair/recovery console?

Performing a Repair Install

You may also want to try this: Recovery Console and perform a chkdsk /f.

There are a few possibilities here: either the mentioned driver is patched, we can be dealing with a bogus driver that is causing trouble, or the disk has a problem.
The latter seems unlikely since you mentioned you had a malware infection.

My bet at this point is on a bogus driver.

The easiest way to check this would be by creating a bootable CD which requires an XP CD. Please let me know if you have one at hand.

regards, Elise

Do you have the possibility to download and burn a bootable disk? It will be around 64 MB.
