I'm using rkill on an infected mini with XP. It launches but then a Security Tools, pev.rkexe, etc. window or Security Tool Warning balloon pops-up and the blinking cursor stops in the rkill window. Does that indicate rkill has been suspended? Do I need to start rkill again each time? Do I double-click the rkill icon on the desktop or just on the rkill window? It's been (maybe) running for four hours.

I am not sure what you know about rkill but here is a link that will explain how it is used and what it does.

RKill - What it does and What it Doesn't - A brief introduction to the program

It really should not take 4 hours to run. Are you using a removal guide?

Coincidentally, the rkill Notepad came up while I was away from my desk. There's a blank under "Services Stopped". It also shows that rkill ran under our parental log-in, though I logged in as my daughter. I'll try again off the flash drive. I'll also go thru the prep guide at this site doing what I can around the Security Tools pop-ups. Back later if necessary. Thanks...
