I am running Microsoft Windows Vista Professional SP2.

Since installing Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, Windows Mail has been popping up error windows.

After I process mail thru Mail Washer Pro v6.5.3, it brings up WinMail, then after reading and/or replying to messages and then closing WinMail, WinMail pops up a box that says:

Windows Mail has stopped working.
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem and try to restart the program.
Check online for a solution and restart the program.
Restart the program.

If I click on find a solution, it says no solution found. *sigh*

Here is a link of the .jpg error:
windows_mail_error.jpg

Before I can click anything, WinMail starts itself again. :-(

It's intermittent. Sometimes it does it, then it doesn't.

Anyone else have this problem, and maybe a fix for it?

Thanks in advance,

Angi

I hope you have a great day today and an even better day tomorrow! :-)

Try not using Windows Mail Washer Pro, and see if that solves the issue. You may also need to allow WinMail access to the net via KIS. When you close Win Mail it automatically sends and receive upon exist, and KIS could be preventing that.

I've always used MailWasherPro, and had no problems with KIS 2010. How do I let 2011 know I'm using winmail?

I wouldn't know off the top of my head since I do not use it but browse around KIS and see if there is anything regarding Allowed Application's or something of the like.

If all else fails you can remove KIS and go with Microsoft Security Essentials or another Free AV.

Ok, I messed around with KIS and the mail error seems to have disappeared.

Now, new question... awhile back I ran Black Vipers Safe Vista .reg file. In hopes of speeding up my system.
Ever since then I keep hearing 4 beeps at start up that are apparently trying to let me know I have errors somewhere.

I went to his site to try to reverse what I had done, since I did not save a backup of the registry, and I had cleaned up
all my old backups. My last system restore has the same errors.

His advice was to merge the Default .reg of his to get it back to where it was. Guess what, it didn't work.

I am unable to use Microsoft Answers website, and I figure it's got to be because I've screwed things up so badly.

I honestly don't want to re-install Vista again, because my complete system backup has those errors as well.
I went into MSCONFIG and told it to run EVERYTHING, but that backfired, nothing would come up at all, so then I
had to start up in safe mode and undo what I had done.

This is what I get for being a bored old lady with MS that has too much time on her hands...

Any hope for me?

Angi

The only thing I can recommend is a repair install.

Post back any issues you may have with repairing, and we will assist you. I am pretty tech savvy with computers, but I do not mess with the windows services. I do not know which ones do what, and what ones have dependencies on other systems.

No longer a problem, I went into Services.msc and turned EVERYTHING ON. Only thing not working now is my printer. Since I made a backup of my entire system last night, I left my computer on all night. Yes, I just got up, I'm allergic to mornings... :-) Gonna do a reboot now and see if the printer works after that.
