Hi,

I am wondering if you can help. After clearing a virus almost a year ago (thank you to Geekstogo) :thumbsup: I have been having the same .NET Framework pop up on every start-up. I usualy just hit the continue button and then close the task using task manager but I have grown tired of doing this and want to just resolve the problem. :flowers: I have attached a screen shot of the error message and also included all of the details that are in the dialog box as well. Any help clearing this would be great.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Hi :thumbsup:.

Well...I would just uninstall whatever versions of MS.NET are installed...but it seems that it may depend on which application you have installed...calls for MS.NET.

Typical programs that I know which do such...MS Office, ATI drivers, nLite.

That message pegs NET Framework version 1.1 as the problem.

Unless this is an MCE system, I would uninstall that and leave it uninstalled. I understand the MCE systems come with 1.1 installed, in which case I suppose that I would reinstall it after removing it.

If a program needs any version of MS.NET, it will let the user know.

MS.NET is not required on every system...I have it installed on one, while I purposely don't have it installed on the other desktop.

Hi Luis,

MCE.....I presume that means Media Center Edition. If so, yes I have a Dell E510 with Windows XP MEdia Center. Do you suggest that I just use the add/remove feature and remove version 1.1 and then reinstall?

I would try that.

My experience is that NET Framework must be uninstalled all at once (all versions via a tool) or you have to uninstall the versions in reverse order, starting with the most recent.

Not saying that's a universal experience, just what I've experienced.

Soooo...I would try uninstalling 1.1 and not be surprised if I received an error message while doing so.

The tool I previously referred to, Dotnetfix Cleanup Tools - http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live....leanup_tool.zip.
