I am helping a friend with their computer. They have xp pro sp2.If I do a repair install with xp pro sp3 [which is my cd] will it erase anything in their computer.?????
The reason I am asking this is a business computer with quickbooks, and a few other business related programs. My cd doesnt have quick books the only program you start out with is recycle bin, if you format with the cd I have.

It will remove any critical updates that came after SP3 was issued...there are over 100 of those that I know of.

It will remove IE 8 if it's currently installed/used and install IE 7.

It will replace the system files.

All data and program files will remain the same.

It will also make your friend's system...more secure than it had been.
