My son has an Acer Aspire One Netbook. When the computer is turned on, it gets to the blue Windows XP screen and will not go further. I have tried to start in safe mode and it does the same thing. I have tried all of the selections on the Windows Advanced Options Menu and they all go to the same blue Windows XP screen. Help...

Hi, does the Netbook have an external CD drive that could be used? If not its no problem, but it would be handy to know first.

regards, Elise

Do you remember what happened that could have triggered this? Was the computer infected? If so, did you run any tools to attempt to fix it?

regards, Elise

No. Sorry. It's my sons comp. and he just said that he went to restart it and it loaded up to the welcome screen and that was all that it would do.

That does give us very little information and virtually no point from where to start searching. Did the netbook come with a recovery partition, and if so, does that give you a repair option? If so, I recommend to use that.

If you are not sure, let me know what manufacturer it is from.

regards, Elise

Thanks for all of the help, we looked up recovery partition on Acer support site, and was able to go to the system recovery by pressing Alt + F10. This loaded Microsoft Windows boot screen which allowed us to reinstall the operating system. :flowers: This is the first time we have used this site, and want to thank everyone that took time to help. We have a 13 yr old who has been going through computer withdrawal.... so yeah.. zero fun for everybody. Thanks again
