I am looking into upgrading my CPU which also involves upgrading the motherboard. I want to know if the boards I'm looking at which are DDR3 1333 RAM supported will be able to use my DDR2 800 RAM chips? in simplest terms is a DDR3 Motherboard backward compatible?

here is the motherboard I am looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131665

and here is the RAM I currently have 4 chips of: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820148212

yep the 1333 is just ram timings and speed, but ddr3 and ddr2 are like the socket types so no ddr2 will not fit in ddr3 slots or vice versa

srry
