Yeah, I'm currently having troubles with my Cookie Settings, they seem to be stuck on “Custom,” no matter how many times I try and put them on “Default.” I actually posted on this issue in another forum so I'll leave the link to that post here because it pretty much explains the problem and also the steps that I was suggested to take already. Unfortunately, they did not work.

And here goes the log, thanks in advance for any help you nice people may be.

Sorry for the delay. If you are still having a problem post a new HJT log.

First of all, it's all good about the delay. Y'all stay busy here, that's for sure. So the delay is not a problem, I'm a patient person, I have no problem waiting my turn.

Anyway, the problem is still there as the setting is still “Stuck” on “Custom.”

Just to note, I just updated and ran Spybot, Ad-Aware & AVG-Free... all three coming up clean as a whistle. So yeah, here's the new log. Hopefully the cause shows up in the log and can be easily fixed, otherwise... :flowers:

Fix these entries in HJT :

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,SearchURL = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O12 - Plugin for .spop: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\Plugins\NPDocBox.dll
O16 - DPF: {82F2D6B2-6C58-4404-A930-9DB0FD90D4B1} (Driver_Detective_v43_Non_Member.DD_v43) - http://www.drivershq.com/cab/prod/Driver_D..._Non_Member.CAB

Then reboot and post a new log.

Then open up Internet Explorer and click on the advanced tab and click on the button that says reset to defaults. Note that this will reset all your IE settings. If thats fine, do this step and then see if the cookies settings stays the same.

Hi. Please download and install the program Registry Lite from here:

http://www.resplendence.com/reglite

Once it is installed, please double click on the icon that should now be on your desktop. If an icon is not there, then check under programs portion of the Start Menu.

Once it is opened, copy and paste the below line, into the address field of Registrar Lite.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\\PrivacyAdvanced

And press enter. You will now be presented with new information in the bottom right and left sections and on the right section.

What is privacyadvanced set to?

Alrighty then, just went to the link and DL'd the program I'm guessing you were refering to. (Registrar Registry Manager [Free Trial/Lite]) and installed. Ran it and copied the address you left into the address bar but I don't think I got what you was refering to. Here's a cap of what I got:

(Note: Saved in 16-Color for smaller filesize.)

I scrolled down to the bottom as I looked through the list of things on the right and found something with the name "PrivacyAdvanced" so I clicked it, bringing up a new window. Seen Below:

(Note: Saved in 16-Color for smaller filesize.)

If this is the info you were looking for, then Rightio! If not, maybe I got the wrong program, or did something wrong. If it's the latter, then please, by all means let me know what I did wrong or whatever :flowers:

EDIT: Boy, not sure if it's just this PC or if those Cap's really did turn out that horrid. Just in case, here's a better Cap of the box that came up when I double clicked:

Nope you did it right and thats the right program. Your setting is also good. So you if you go into the options screen of IE, and click on the Privacy tab, you see it set as custom? If you click on the advanced button, is anything checked?

It's still set to Custom, and nothing checked under 'Advanced', but if I click anything on in that window and apply/save... I got back and it's back like it was, much like it going right back to Custom.

EDIT: To clarify, if I check anything in the Advanced window, it goes right back after I exit and re-enter. Just as the Custom does

Ok lets try this. It may work, it may not, but worth a try.

Download the attached reg file.

Close IE.

Double-click on the downloaded file. When it asks if you want to merge the data, say yes.

Start IE and check to see if its better now.

Just tried as specified, negative. Still there. Boy, this is one tough cookie  BTW, I really do appreciate the time that you've taken to try and help me... I know you must be getting frustrated as it seems nothing works.

It can definitely get frustrating

Its a strange problem you are having.

Do you have anything under this key :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P\History

Check with the registrar lite program.

Yes, there's a heck of a lot in that area... There's folders, or what appear to be folders, lot of them. The names of the folders appear to be web site addresses. But I don't recognize a single one. *Scratches Head* Am I spose to recognize them?

I had nothing better to do, so I re-ran BitDefender and Panda Scan or whatever. I ran both of these before I even posted the first log, I thought that it fixed everything it found, maybe not. It came up with a couple infections this time (BitDefender did) and maybe I just overlooked this one the first time.

C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Explorer.lnk=>C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE
Infected with: Win32.Bube.Gen

C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Explorer.lnk=>C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE
Disinfection failed

Maybe this is the problem, I'm not sure. If it ain't, then I dunno. I know one thing, this PC's got me going crazy, Lol.

EDIT: Just tried what you put above, didn't work either... but now all those weird site names are gone from that place in the Registry... that might be a good thing, even though it didn't fix this particular problem. :flowers:
