Hey, all. A friend of mine recently helped me out with combofix and it worked great, so i was hoping to do the same for another friend. I haven't used combofix before so i'm sure i'll need help. running vista on a compaq presario. i don't know anything about the virus as my friend just gave me the compy. i tried running safemode with networking but still no dice. i was planning on putting combofix on a flash drive and dropping it on the desk top.
thanks.

DO NOT RUN ComboFix unless requested to.

Try , please perform a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and follow these instructions for doing a Quick Scan in normal mode.

* When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
* The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

this post may be removed

ComboFix is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by a member of our Malware Removal Team who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

It has been suggested that this topic be moved to the Am I Infected forum where you will have the help of our trained staff.

I would wait for their suggestion for the type of scan that they feel will be appropriate.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Reference: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic348053.html.

Now that you have posted in the MRL forum (which I moved to Am I Infected, no logs), you should take all instructions from BC Staff members there.

To avoiid confusion, I am closing this topic.

Louis
