Win XP SP3
Intel Celeron CPU 2.40GHz 2GB RAM RADEON 9600 series

300 gig wd hard drive 118 gb free

When I turn on after hitting o.k. at the password screen it starts loading desktop and suddenly reboots.

After several attempts like 6 or seven it finally comes on.

Just for the sake of experimentation...i would create a new profile...and see if that profile responds in the same manner.

Right now, I'm thinking damaged userinit or damaged profile...as possibilities.

Backed up all my data on an external drive.

created a new profile.

powered off and into the new profile several times ..no problem.

powered off and loaded the other profile, started my e-mail outlook express, was in looking at message and it kicked off, total power out.

logged back into the trouble profile again and I did all the same things and this time no failure.

Been on about twenty minutes now.

I double checked my connections to make sure I wasn't bumping the surge protector with my foot and made sure power cord is inserted snugly in the back of computer.

probably a coincidence..before this started adobe flash player 10 was hounding me for an update at start up, I ignored it a couple of days then finally took it.

EDIT
one hour later working normally
Am going to see if it fails after being off all night.

EDIT after all night
12 hours later...will not start up at all...keyboard lights come on

I am glad to be getting a new MB, time to clean out the box and get everything running at max again.
