Scans with SAS are coming up clean. Getting occasional hard lockups. Video and sound both occasionally freeze up and only a reboot solves it. My internet issues were a bad tap outside on the telephone pole.

Hi,

Are drivers for video and sound up to date? Pretty basic, but how much RAM do you have....adequate?

Hello,

Looks like plenty to me. thumbup2.gif Okay then, have you installed anything new recently that you can remember? You may have a couple of services not playing well together. I'm suggesting these things because that HijackThis log looks all right, and you said your scans are coming up clean. Some of your startups could be playing a part too.....for example, it's not a good idea to have P2P programs like Limewire anyway, let alone have them start every time you start your computer. I'm curious about something......you should test McAfee. Go offline and disable it totally, then see how it runs and if you have to do a hard boot. Sometimes McAfee causes these type problems and more. We can do a couple more scans if you feel there are still problems, but from your description I'm leaning toward something of this nature.

Thanks,
tea

You know now that you say something perhaps my "On access scan" is causing my lockups. Seems logical plus I think I may have a failing hard drive sad.gif
I'd say this is probably ok to list under resolved. My main concern was wether or not I got rid of the nasties anyways and it seems I did. Thank you for your time and help. I much appreciate it smile.gif

AS for limewire I have used it in the past but I haven't used it in quite a while. Also it doesn't start when I start my computer. I disabled that feature when I first installed it. Completely annoying to have it trying to load and connect to the internet when I boot my computer. I have a bit of tech know how and such and usually do a good job of keeping my pc clean.

Hi,

Well, I mentioned the Limewire because it is indeed showing in your startups : O4 - Startup: LimeWire On Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files (x86)\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe .....no offense intended, just trying to help. smile.gif

I hope it isn't hard drive failure. sad.gif In any case you're most welcome. smile.gif I'll leave the thread open for a couple of days to be sure.
