Master list of totals on sheet a. Column headings: School, PO #, Amount.
I would like to reference those values on sheet b. Column headings are different, except for Amount.

Is there a way to reference the Amount totals so the references are still valid on sheet b, after I sort the data into different order on sheet a?

If I understand you correctly, what you want is for the formula to follow the data on sheet A and not the cell.
In this case absolute addressing will not work as the formula will stay with a specific cell when A is sorted

Sheet A contains school, PO & amount
What are sheet B headings?
How many entries are there?
What version of Excel?

Maybe it can be done with an interum sheet or step
In the beginning there was the command line.
