Hi all, I am having what seems to be a common problem, yet I don't know what to do with it.

When I use a search engine, I am redirected to some oddball sites, such as yellowpages. I have run Lavasoft ad-Aware and AVG but the problem has not been solved. I have read some of these forums, and it seems like malware or "rootkit" removal is complicated. Can anyone talk me through it? Thank you, RP

I should add that I have attempted to go through the Preparation guide for use before malware removal tools and requesting help, and any file I attempt to download "gets cancelled". I am assuming the malware won't let me download software to fix it.
