My computer like so many others is infected with the infamous Google redirect virus.
I keep being redirected from Google, Yahoo, and Bing. After running Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus full scan, the scan reports that it found a virus Win32/Alureon.H. When I click the Clean button, Microsoft Security Essentials is unable to remove the virus. An error message pops up saying "Error Code: 0x80501001 Couldn't apply the action(s) you selected".
I also have Antimalware installed (malewarebytes).
I Have a dell laptop running windows XP professional with service pack 3
I have wireless internet
Don't know if any of this is important
From the removal information I have seen it seems some what complicated..Ugh..I also do not have a reinstall disk so I certainly can't wipe my system clean.
So I'm hoping someone can HELP!!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
