So I have a relatively new laptop and all of a sudden it won't boot up to let me log in. The computer will start up and then you can see the cursor and the blue loading icon and then they both go away and nothing happens. It's right before I would normally log in. I have all my business stuff on this computer so I am freaking out and want to fix this.

Please help me and let me know what I can do to get it back up and running.

Hello and Welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

Can you post your system make and model number.

Does your computer appear to still be running or does it appear to be shutting down/ powering off?

Thanks in advance.

Bruce.

Anyone have any advice or solution for this issue?

I finally got it to boot up in safe mode, but it took about 20 minutes to do so. It's a hit or miss now, it either takes really long and finally boots up after 20 minutes, or it'll just stay at the black screen.

Please help me, I need to get my computer back up and running.

Did a checkdisk as well, and did not find any errors.

I have all my business stuff on this computer so I am freaking out and want to fix this.

Have you backed up all your important stuff? That's the first thing to do.

Are your drivers up to date?
Could you have an over heating problem?
Have you run an anti-virus/malware scan?
Is the AC adapter plugged in when this happens?

Yeah, I have backed everything up.

Not overheating because fan is going and not even hot underneath laptop.

Ran malwarebytes and found nothing.

Yes, adapter is plugged in when it does this.

Does it work when you login via Safe Mode?

How do I get to safe mode?

After the POST Screen hit F8, and you will be presented with a screen of options use Safe Mode.

If it boots up in Safe Mode, then the issue is with your profile.

FWIW: When it hangs with the black screen while booting...it may be damaged boot files or bad hardware configuration.

Since it's an HP laptop...I would check the HP support pages for what needs to be done in such circumstances, rather than rely on suggested Windows fixes.
