windows xp side by side with windows 7?

hi everyone, i wonder if i can, or may, install windows xp after windows 7 on my notebook, but having them work side by side.
if there's any way to do that, can anyone tell me about the pros and the cons, the possibilities (including the failure possibilities and stuff)?
