I was going to install Adobe CS5 when is said I had a system reboot scheduled. (Install software and say "Reboot later")

So I rebooted, and as soon as I logged back on all these red flags went up. I had no anti-virus or firewall, and Norton Internet Security 2010 showed me this:

I decided this must be malware or Norton was just getting really desperate, so I hit the renew subscription button. I had 87 days, and after I hit that button I had 0.

I used my Norton Removal Tool, which has always worked, but this time it told be it was out of date and I could only exit the program. I uninstalled NIS2010 the normal way (Start, Computer, Uninstall or Change a Program). Luckily I had the NIS2010 install media backed up offline, so things are back to normal now, except I have 87 days on my current subscription.

So I'm good for now, but what gives?
