Please note the message text in blue at the top of the Am I infected? What do I do? forum.

No one should be using ComboFix unless specifically instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert who can interpret the logs. It is a powerful tool intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. Please read the pinned topic ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look here.

With that said, try using System Restore or System Restore from a command prompt in Safe Mode to return to a previous state before running ComboFix.

If that does not resolve you issues, then be aware that as part of its routine, ComboFix creates backups in the event something goes awry with Windows which can be used to restore your computer to the state it was prior to using the tool.
  • Open Windows Explorer or right-click on My Computer and choose Explore.
  • Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\subs\erdnt.exe, double-click on erdnt.exe and then reboot the machine.
  • If that does not work, then navigate to C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\Hiv-backup\erdnt.exe, double-click on erdnt.exe and reboot the machine.

thanks quietman7, it didn't fix the shortcuts. i'll just have to run trough the startmenu and see what i need to reinstall.

"Windows Install Clean Up" can help a bit, i just hope the rest of the programs co-operate.

thanks for trying
