Hi.

Hi I saw a post by a user on this site that said that for security you should disable XP's remote registry function, so I followed the instructions that they left.

click start, click run,in the space type services.msc,in the list find windows remote registry and disable it. Also, find
secondary logon and switch to manual. To do this click on selected items, right

But there was no remote registry in the list that came up. There was:

Remote access auto connection manager
Remote access connection manager
Remote desktop help session manager
Remote procedure call
Remote procedure call locator
Routing and remote access.

So I just had a couple of questions. Has remote registry now been removed by default? Is it a good idea to disable any of the other applications listed above?

I have XP sp3.

Thanks.

If you wish to disable Remote Assistance you can do this by right clicking on My Computer> Properties> Remote and removing the check mark in the box for Allow Remote Assistance...

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
