My desktop computer has this Google redirect virus. Every time I do a search in google (or any other search site) and click on one of the result links I am redirected to another, less reputable search site or an advertisement site. I can't get anywhere on the web unless I type something into the address bar. At the advice of a friend I managed to disable the proxy server problem but I still keep getting redirected.
I have run the following scanners at the advice of a friend to try and fix things:
AVG (free)
Malwarebytes
Hitman Pro

Neither Malwarebytes or AVG picked anything up. Hitman Pro did the very first time it ran and it seemed to get rid of the problem...until I restarted my computer. Now, when I run Hitman Pro I get nothing. AVG and Malwarebytes run for 2 hours (each) and pick up nothing. This was 3 days ago. I've been going in circles for 3 days, running scan after scan after scan to no avail, both in safe mode and normal mode.

I am by no means a computer expert and I'm unaware of any other programs that can help me. Please help!

Hello and welcome. Appears we will need a deeper look. Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Let me know if that went well.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
