I'm considering buying a macbook pro (2.54 ghz, 4 gb ram, 500 hd 7200 rpm) but need to use internet explorer 8 to access and work on internet based files. The files do not work on safari or firefox. What is the best method to install internet explorer8?

By installing it in a Windows partition.
The last version of IE for Mac that was supported by MS was over 7 years ago, IE 5.2.3.

You could also run Windows XP/7 and thus IE8 through a virtual machine on your Mac when need be. It all depends on frequency of use...
