ComboFix usage, Questions, Help - Look here - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic273628.html

A guide and tutorial on using ComboFix - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

"Helper" in the above instructions...means a person qualified to supervise the removal of malware within the context of a bona fide malware forum. It does not mean Joe Smith, the guy next door.

If your friend truly has run ComboFix at the suggestion of a qualified individual...he needs to seek assistance/instruction via that forum, IMO.

What does that mean How can he get a quailified person to help? He calls them on the phone or what? isn't it just following instructions carefully? You never mentioned if it is freeware 100% i would like to try it myself but if it is that ify to use I doubt i would ever try it

Hello,

Where did the version of ComboFix come from? There should not be a registration page involved with ComboFix.

No, he doesn't call them on the phone. Using Combofix requires specialized training. Does your friend have access to another computer? Is he/she able to boot? I would suggest that your friend follow the instructions below:

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If unable to complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Since you have run ComboFix, please include the ComboFix log in the new topic. Please be sure to include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If unable to produce any of the other logs, then please create the new topic anyway, include the information that you were unable to produce the other logs and why and include the ComboFix log along with a description of your computer issues.
