New trying out Windows 7 Home Premium here. I seem to observe that at start-up it checks the network connection always. I dont remember XP doing that....well at least to my experience..

Can I make it stop? If so how can I do that?

I am not always connected to the internet at home and when I start/restartWin7 it takes about +/- 30sec to finish checking if there are any connections...

I am using Win7 on an old P4 pc and have run the modem/sound drivers in compatibility mode. The video driver is okay.
I notice there is a problem with the Aero theme when using Autocad 2005 and 2008. A quick check with Autodesk and the problem is really the Aero theme of Windows Vista/7. For me to run Autocad I have to revert back to the basic theme.

Now I don't like the Basic theme too bland...

Can you give me a link where I can download good looking visual styles in "Basic theme"..?

I googled some but is limited and some require a "patcher" for it. I have TuneUp Utilities 2010 and they have some that are good. Problem is I think TuneUp 2010 is eating up much of resources by taking control of my system. I used to have TuneUp 2007. It was light but for XP only.

Maybe a theme that does not require a "patcher" or other utility that is safe and does not eat up much resources.....

I don't know about WindowBlinds but I think it's not free....?

Can you guys help me out?

Thanks.

See what you can find here http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/ for themes. You can always ask these users, too.
