Hello. I joined because I have been infected with Red Cross Antivirus program that was installed by the Fake Microsoft Securities Essentials Alert Trojan. As recommended by BC's removal guide, I downloaded rkill.com that stopped the program running, but the scans (multiple) by Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware have not detected the program so far and Red Cross still appears when I start my computer. I can't see my desktop, either. So, I am hoping to get some help in finding and emiminating it. I can open various files through Task Manager only. Thanks.

Edit: Moved topic from AntiVirus, Firewall and Privacy Products and Protection Methods to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I think it's best for your computer, to threat that infection you mentioned. Just follow the steps on http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html (Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help).

When post your (Hijackthis log +) DDS Log:
  • Be patient, it's very busy at this forum.
  • A professional expert will view your logs an will help you with that problem.
  • Do not use tools without professional experience/helper.
Good luck.

Hello, there is no need to post the HJT log if you post the DDS. That would be sort of repetitious. DDS with GMer is fine. HJT is somewhat obsolete now so we rally do not need it.
