Hello I am new to this forum so would really like it if you could provide me with some really helpful information and I am sure I can provide some back.
My question is that I have a around 5 year old sony vaio laptop that has a 120GB hard drive. If I left click on my computer in windows 7 and go onto disk management it shows that there is a 7.9GB system partition on my hard drive. I want to know what this does and will I need it and if not how can I delete it and add the space to my Windows 7 Partition. My windows 7 shows it as being empty however I dont think it is. I thought that it may be the sony vaio recovery but my laptop came with windows xp and so i would use the windows 7 disc if i wanted to restore.

Thank you very much

Hi  to Bleepingcomputer!

You need that partition it is part of windows it contains all of the information required for boot and other important system files. This is new for windows I had made the mistake of deleting it on my first beta install of windows 7 and it made it unbootable.
