I think I may have an infected computer, I am running windows 7 32 bit, for some reason my desktop randomly refreshes, every few minutes. I have the latest graphics card drivers etc installed.

I have run comodo full scan, Kasperski Online Scan, Malwarebytes, spybot, all come up as clean.

Also please can you delete the thread HERE as posted this there in error

Sorry, did not read the advise properly and failed to provide all the required info. Please dont think I am bumping post. I have posted below the DDS Logs. However I can not post the gmer logs as I have major issues there. When I run the scan with gmer, folllowing the guidelines, unchcecking the boxes as required, scan begins, then when it gets to \device\harddisk\volumeshadowcopy1 gmer crashes. I tried several times. I then disabled security and when I clicked gmer, I got bsod STOP 0x0000008E, 0xC0000005, 0x84ABAEFE, 0xAF549A44.

Logs attached

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

Casey

If I have been helping you and I do not reply within 48hours, feel free to send me a PM.

I have followed your instructions but still cannot successfully run GMER, it gets as far as \Device\harddiskvolumeshadowcopy1 the stops working. I have tried it normallly, and again with disabling the processes that can be be disabled. Got bsod when tried this way. I tried again after booting in safe mode without networking, failed at same point. Tried changing compatibility mode for Gmer to windows xp, still failed. See atttached images. I also ran services.msc VSS (Volumeshadow copy) was set as "manual" and "stopped" I tried to run gmer with vss running, still stopped working when at harddiskvolumeshadowcopy1. first time i tried i got bsod "STOP" 0x0000008E (0xC0000005 0x84A6AEFE 0xAB86BA44 0x00000000)

I have pasted below the dds.txt and attached the attach.zip

=============================================

When does the problem started? When did you install SUPERAntiSpyware Professional and Spybot - Search & Destroy? Is the PC behaving normally with these two together with COMODO Internet Security before the problem arises?

1. We need to disable Spybot S&D's "TeaTimer"
TeaTimer works by preventing ANY changes to the system. It will attempt to undo any fixes we run, because it blocks these fixes from running.

In order to safeguard your system from problems that can be brought on by a half finished fix, we need to disable TeaTimer. We can reenable it when we're done if you like.
  1. Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy.
  2. If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.
  3. Click and then on "Advanced Mode"
  4. You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press
  5. Click on
  6. Click on
  7. Uncheck this checkbox:
  8. Close/Exit Spybot Search and Destroy

2. P2P Warning:
Your log(s) show that you are using so called peer-to-peer or file-sharing programmes (in your case µTorrent).

These programmes allow to share files between users as the name(s) suggest. In today's world the cyber crime has come to an enormous dimension and any means is used to infect personal computers to make use of their stored data or machine power for further propagation of the malware files. A popular means is the use of file-sharing tools as a tremendous amount of prospective victims can be reached through it.

It is therefore possible to be infected by downloading manipulated files via peer-to-peer tools and thus suggested to be used with intense care. Some further readings on this subject, along the included links, are as follows: "File-Sharing, otherwise known as Peer To Peer" and "Risks of File-Sharing Technology."

It is also important to note that sharing entertainment files and proprietary software infringes the copyright laws in many countries over the world and you are putting yourself at risk of being indicted through organisations watching over the rights of the authors of such files (i.e. the RIAA for music files, or the MPAA for movie files in the USA) or the authors of the files themselves.

Naturally there are also legal ways to use these services, such as downloading Linux distributions or office suites such as "Open Office."

3. Scan With RKUnHooker
  • Please Download Rootkit Unhooker Save it to your desktop.
  • Now double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check (Tick) Drivers, Stealth,. Uncheck the rest. then Click OK.
  • Wait till the scanner has finished and then click File, Save Report.
  • Save the report somewhere where you can find it. Click Close.
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note: Just ignore if you get the below warning.

"Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

Hi
As much as I appreciate the site is run by volunteers that have outside lives, when dealing with trojans, viruses, malware etc, it is a matter of urgency as security is breached. Initially posted 2nd of september, its now 22nd of September, It is much more efficient in this case to back up and then reinstall my Operating sytem as a fresh install. This is what I have done and my system is working tiptop. This thread can now be closed.

It is a treat service you offer, but on this occassion the timeline is far too long. Please dont take this as criticism. Thanks once again

Hi,

I'm so sorry that you end up reformatting the system, we're trying our best to reply as fast as we can but currently there are more than 300 members asking for help and only few of us. We appreciate that you informed us that the problem was resolved and thank you for the feedback.

Regards,
Semp
