I get email news from Tech Republic, I was surprised this morning when I read this article about rootkits, and not only is combofix mentioned
http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/five-tip...amp;tag=nl.e101

But there is also a direct download link for anybody to get
http://www.combofix.org/

I was aware the there was supposed to be very limited mirrors for combofix. So if this link is o.k. then forget this post but if it isn't then here's a heads up

Well here is the WOT score card: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/combofix.org it does rate controversial also I dont think that it is a legitimate site, again it rates bad on WOT. Good tip I think they will have to have a look at it.

Combofix.org is not a reputable site. They are not to be trusted. As stated in Combofix's Disclaimer:

The following websites are not in any way affiliated to ComboFix:

http://www.combofix.org/
http://www.combofixdownload.com/

If you have purchased anything from them, I suggest you instruct your financiers to cancel the transaction.

The only valid mirrors for ComboFix are those given in the official guide: How to use ComboFix

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

This is indeed a unauthorized and domain squatter trying to capitalize on Combofix's reputation. Maybe someone how subscribes to techrepublic can let the author know or post a comment letting people know.

Already been done: http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-31905-0.h...eftCol;post-272

You posted the wrong site for Combofix
Combofix.org is not affiliated with the Combofix site in any way. In fact when you run Combofix it states that Combofix.org is in no way affiliated with the program. The only true authorized location and guide for Combofix can be found here.

Isn't Combofix copyrighted, so some legal actions can be taken to get rid of unauthorized links?
