I bought a 2 TB LaCie external hard drive and it says that it has a 33% usb boost. Does it actually make the transfer faster or is it just another sales gimmick?

I did a little search for information on how the "boost" works, but so far haven't been anything definitive. I did see that it has some compatibility issue. The following is from their wed site.

1.1. Minimum System Requirements
1.1.1. Windows
✦✦Windows XP, 32 bit and 64 bit
✦✦Windows Vista and Windows 7, 32 bit versions only.
✦✦Hi-speed USB 2.0
IMPORTANT NOTE: LaCie USB Boost is not compatible with Macintosh
and Linux operating systems and 64 bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
