My computer has just started to state when i insert a dvd +/- rom into the drive that it is a cd.
It has always been ok in the past and i cant think of asny changes that should of affected it.
It plays dvd's fine and reads data dvd's fine but still sees them as a cd.

This is really annoying as i want to burn a lot of files to dvd as they are too large for cd's

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I dont normally use this XP computer, and didnt realise that it cannot write to dvd's by itself (I mean XP),,thats what i read somewhere anyway although i am sure it has done in the past. I am now using DeepBurner to burn the files.
I tried nero but even that wouldnt recognise a DVD which was strange.
I normally convert stuff when using this comouter but just wanted to copy files this time.

Any insight into this subject would still be of interest to me though, especially if I have been wrongfully informed about XP not being able to write to a DVD.
