I am getting "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD Decoder is not installed on your computer"

I have tried-reboot--the computer's troubleshooter--and the Dell Support site

SYSTEM: Dell Dimension 2400-WINXP with SP2

DVD PLayer (came with computer) JLMS DVD-ROM XJ-HD166

Any help--Direction to go will be appreciated-- I think if I knew who/what "JLMS" is I might get somewhere-

Thanks---

See if either of these two links provide some help.

Thank Koran,

I looked at the above mentioned User's guide--not very helpful for my problem ( quite skimpy).

However, I found a forum where it was advised : On Computer-Conrol Panel-Go to Systems-Hardware-Device Mgr-Drivers and uninstall the driver--Reboot and Windows will reinstall and all should be OK--

My question is: will reinstalling the hardware w/driver also reload the DVD decoding software? Is this software part of the driver software or separate. If separate where does it reside? Is this referred to as firmware? or is it maybe part of Windows or Windows Media player--Thanks again
