I was working on my acer laptop (acer aspire 3000) yesterday, everything was fine. Today when I tried to get on, it wouldnt start. All that happens when I turn it on with only the battery is I get 8 amber flashes on the light in front which has a battery symbol next to it. So Im guessing the battery is low. And when I take out the battery and use just the power cord, there are no lights when I press the laptop power switch. So does that mean that the power cord is no good and has never been charging the battery, explaining why the battery is dead? Or could it be something else?

Hello and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

I read your description above. I see where you said you were working on the computer. I need to ask if you meant mechanically working on the computer or if you meant you were just performing normal computing tasks.

There is a possibility your battery has reached its charge-discharge cycle limit and your battery no longer charges. How old is this laptop battery?

Bruce.

Here's a link to your support page.

http://support.acer.com/us/en/acerpanam/no...ire3000nv.shtml

This is a link to your owners manual. http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/manuals/...5000_UG_ENG.pdf

Battery information. http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook...e3000faq8.shtml

I would replace the battery, it is my belief yours is in need of replacement.

This link is to locations where you can purchase a new battery. http://us.acer.com/acer/buy.do

Good luck.

Bruce.
